Blazers' Oden returns after missing six games

11/12/2008 - Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden returned to action on Wednesday against the Miami Heat, though he was not in the starting lineup.

Oden was expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks with a right foot sprain sustained in a season-opening 96-76 loss to the Lakers. The seven-footer missed six games but Portland managed a 4-2 record in his absence.

The amiable big man, who missed his entire rookie season after a right knee injury, sprained the foot early in the first quarter in his long-awaited debut. The ensuing MRI exam and CAT scan confirmed no surgery was required.

He went up for a rebound in the early stages of the first quarter with Lakers forward Andrew Bynum draped over his back. Oden came down awkwardly on his leg and bent his right foot back and to the inside.

The 2007 No.1 overall draft pick didn't score in the opener and grabbed five rebounds in just under 13 minutes.

Oden played just one season for the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were defeated by the Florida Gators in the championship game of the NCAA Tournament, averaging 15.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in 32 games.
