06/24/2010 - Wimbledon, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Reigning champion Serena Williams and former champ Maria Sharapova were straight-set second-round victors Thursday, on a day when Queen Elizabeth II visited Wimbledon for the first time in 33 years.
The world No. 1 Serena blew past former top-10 Russian Anna Chakvetadze 6-0, 6-1 on Court 2 at the All England Club. The fierce American dispatched Chakvetadze in a mere 49 minutes by ripping nine aces and striking 21 more winners (27-6) in the dismantling.
Chakvetadze avoided being double-bageled by holding serve while trailing 0-5 in the second set. Williams' has posted only one double-bagel at a major, and that came in the third round against Austrian Barbara Schett at the 2003 French Open.
The 28-year-old Williams has now won 42 straight second-round matches at Grand Slam events.
Williams beat her older sister Venus in last year's final to capture her third career Wimbledon championship. She owns 12 Grand Slam singles titles overall and also currently holds down the Australian Open title.
Williams, dressed in all white, showed off her curtsy for the Queen on Thursday.
Although in past decades the All England Club maintained a tradition of a bow or curtsy to royalty, the practice was actually dropped seven years ago. Still, many indulged the Queen on Thursday.
The 84-year-old monarch braved very hot weather in order to meet tennis legends such as Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova, before greeting the fortnight's top players, including Venus. She then watched some tennis from the Royal Box.
The nine-time Wimbledon winner Navratilova said: "The Queen was lovely."
Up next for the powerful Serena will be Slovak Dominika Cibulkova, who defeated Japan's Ayumi Morita 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-2), 7-5.
The 2004 titlist Sharapova handled Romanian Ioana Raluca Olaru 6-1, 6-4 on Court 1.
Sharapova is still on the mend following an elbow injury.
"We're professional athletes. We don't wake up in the morning and say, 'Everything feels perfect,"' Sharapova said. "Maybe when we're very young."
The former world No. 1 Sharapova, seeded 16th at this particular fortnight, upset Serena in the final here six years ago.
The three-time major champion Sharapova will face Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in a third-round affair here on Saturday.
Third-seeded U.S. Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki moved on with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Taipei's Kai-Chen Chang, while 14th-seeded former top-10 Belarusian star Victoria Azarenka doused Serb Bojana Jovanovski 6-1, 6-4 on Day 4.
Wozniacki's third-round opponent will be 29th-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, while Azarenka will encounter Czech Petra Kvitova.
In some other top-10 action, seventh-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska routed Italian Alberta Brianti 6-2, 6-0, ninth-seeded Chinese Li Na dismissed Japanese Kurumi Nara 6-2, 6-4 and 10th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta pasted Romanian Monica Niculescu 6-1, 6-1.
Mild upsets came when Czech veteran Klara Zakopalova doused 18th-seeded Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai 5-7, 6-3, 6-3; Aussie citizen Anastasia Rodionova rubbed out struggling 19th-seeded fellow Russian native Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 2-6, 6-4; Kvitova knocked out 23rd-seeded Chinese Zheng Jie 6-4, 2-6, 6-2; and Zahlavova Strycova struck down 24th-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
In other action involving seeds, the aforementioned Pavlyuchenkova beat Italian Roberta Vinci 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), No. 31 Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru drilled Italian Romina Sarina Oprandi 6-2, 6-0, and No. 32 Italian Sara Errani tattooed Spaniard Arantxa Parra Santonja 6-2, 6-2.
Estonia's Kaia Kanepi advanced with a 6-4, 7-5 decision against Romanian Edina Gallovits. Kanepi upended French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur in the round of 128.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds
With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season. What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season. Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all. Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13). Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two. Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury. Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven. Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury. Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.
In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons. Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4. Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1). The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this. No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

LaDainian Tomlinson Favorite to be 2007 NFL MVP
With the first NFL preseason game less than two weeks away, it is time to start thinking about football once again at MySportsbook.com. Reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is currently the 5-1 co-favorite to win the award again alongside Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone after his all out assault on the record books last season. For those suffering from amnesia or were under a rock last football season, all L.T. did last season was set the NFL record for rushing touchdowns (28), total touchdowns (31) and total points scored (186) to go along with his 1815 rushing yards and 508 receiving yards. At 6-1, Tom Brady is next in line which isn’t surprising considering all of the firepower the Pats added over the off-season. With the addition of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker; it would be quite difficult for Brady’s numbers not to improve from last years 3529 yards and 24 touchdowns. There appears to be some decent value in Drew Bees at 10-1 considering he probably would have won the award last year if it wasn’t for L.T.’s record breaking season.
There is no reason to think the Saints will come back to earth this season and playing in a weak NFC, they should have as good a shot as any to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. At 15-1, Donovan McNabb could also be worth a look. Remember, many felt he was the MVP of the first half of the season before going down with a season ending injury. Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
